The Colour Orange – Learning, Experiencing & Teaching

The Wheel of Colours has 13 fields and 13 colours – each field represents a different challenge, gift or lesson which we have to master in our lifetimes and the colours in our unique wheel show each of us how we can master them best, with our unique abilities.

We are all made up of the same colours, but the colours are arranged differently for each of us on our wheels.

For example, orange is the colour for experiencing, learning & teaching.

Have you ever thought about the different ways in which you learn and why?

We can learn from books, from TV shows, from experience, from listening to other people’s experiences, from teachers, gurus and inspiration, from tasting, touching, knowing, feeling, thinking, hearing, and I’m sure there are many more ways in which we learn.

Learning is our initial drive, our default, it’s what we were born to do. And the best thing is, whatever we have learned, we can also teach and share with others.

Some of us, usually those who have orange at the beginning of their wheel, love to learn and diving deep into new topics and learning about new things fuels their joy, expansion and forward movement in life, though they might also feel like they have to learn a lot of the lessons the hard way, by experience, while others (those with orange in the second half of their wheel) might initially be more relaxed when it comes to learning and studying, as they might have already learned many lessons in past lives.

This might wrongly be mistaken for laziness, and often those with orange in the second half of their wheel come back to a full force drive to learn and discover a little later in life.

Which is true for you?
You might be able to guess, looking at your life and how you feel.

But if you want to be sure, you may also order your unique Wheel of Colours from me, to find out.

If you have your wheel already and/or think you can use some help to learn how to best use the qualities of the colour orange, your need for learning and teaching in your life  – then I’d be happy to show you some theoretical and practical ways to do that, in this article.

The classical field for the colour orange in the Wheel of Colours is the eights field.

The eights field shows us the most important lesson we have to learn/chose to learn in this lifetime before reincarnation.

It makes sense to have orange as the classical eights colour because our ability and interest to learn can help us with the lessons that open up for us in our lives.

Whenever we choose to live and learn, we thrive in life. Whenever we see an obstacle and choose to overcome it, we open up to new possibilities for ourselves.

It’s a bit like climbing up a mountain: the higher you get, or the more knowledge and experiences you gather, the more you can see and understand how things are connected and what the bigger picture looks like.

The classical position of the colour red in the Wheel of Colours

However, if you let fear or obstacles stop you on your way, you will miss out on the opportunities to learn and grow.

Similarly, we often don’t understand the most important lessons in our lives as such, while we’re in them, but only after a while, when we have found our way through them and find the time to see the bigger picture, reflect and look back.

Now, if you, like me, were raised around a lot of western ideology and rational thinking, you were most likely not brought up or trained to dive deep into the unknown lessons the universe has to offer and to explore your role on this planet – because that would mean questioning all authorities.

But if you don’t shy away from asking the most meaningful questions anyway and would like to go on a little excursion with me today, to explore how we can see our life as the beautiful journey it is, then I’d love to explore how to do this with you in this article.

1. How can we live our lives to learn?

One of the most challenging and rewarding realizations I had (not even that long ago), was to see that my soul, my highest self, has chosen, consciously, to be born into the circumstances I was born into because this would present me with exactly the right challenges for my soul’s journey and provide me with the best opportunities to learn and experience the things I, my soul, still needed to learn.

And the same is true for you.

Seeing everything that happens in your life, as something that happens for you, not to you, simply changes the way you can master challenges, as you can see them from your soul’s and not your ego’s perspective.

For this, instead of asking yourself: Why is this happening to me?

You can ask yourself: What can I learn here?

The Course of Miracles teaches us, that behind every problem there’s a solution – and that we can decide what we want to focus on – the problem or the solution – and whatever we choose, we will energize and keep alive.

So if we combine these two ideas, that every challenging thing that we encounter in life is a gift, an opportunity to grow and learn something, and that, whenever we face something, we get to decide if we focus on the problem or the solution, then the last step is simply to not take anything that happens in our lives personally – to be able to gracefully solve any problem.

But for that, we might first have to realize that we, ourselves, do, in fact, create everything in our lives, and the more aware we become of that, the more we begin to be able to also consciously change our experience here on earth.

Let’s have a closer look at how this works, together.

2. Who are we, and what’s the meaning of life on earth?

In the introduction to my upcoming book, I just briefly mentioned life as a game, and it was the first thing one of my test readers questioned.

She asked: Is life really a game? – but other than an intuitive understanding of, yes it is, I did not have an answer for her at that time.

But I do, now.

When we as little babies open our eyes, and are born into families unable to give us unconditional love, grow up feeling lonely, not recognized, treated unfairly, see our spirits broken and experience disappointments and failures, rejection and loss – life might seem like a wicket game at best.

But this is barely all we experience. No matter how difficult the circumstances, we also experience moments of joy, of love, of connection, of fun, of learning, of support, of applause and so on.

So each of us is born into contrast. We each get to experience good and bad things.

The question is: What do we focus on?

Do we focus on the bad things and let them get us down, or do we focus on the good things and let them inspire us to create and see more good things?

And this is where our unique blueprint comes in, that is reflected in the Wheel of Colours, as it shows us our difficulties and challenges, as well as our gifts, which we chose before we were born, to create a certain experience in this lifetime.

Now if we, like I surely did for a long time, ask whenever something bad or difficult happened: Why me? Why do I have to endure this?

Then the only answers we might find looking from that perspective is that it feels like life is against us, and that makes it really difficult, to feel empowered, as everything we see through this lens shows us that the odds aren’t in our favour.

Feeling disempowered causes us to feel bad – as it goes against our human nature.

We always have the power to change and step back into our power at any moment, so feeling disempowered is as far from our truth as we could possibly be. And this distance doesn’t feel good (you can read more about why this so in the article on the colour yellow).

We are incredibly powerful, created in the image of God (for my definition of God, please see the description of the colour purple) because like God created us, we have the power to create – and we constantly create our circumstances.

There’s no way around that – the only question is if we do it consciously or unconsciously.

So, to create is our nature, and to feel like this power has been taken away, goes against our nature.

Now, if we look around, we might see that most of the people, most of the time, still feel disempowered and that things are in a certain way and not for them to change – but that is not true.

I was lucky enough to come across self-actualization coaching at some point in my life, just like you are now, as this approach looks at what people do who do thrive in life, so we can all learn from them.

By looking at those who know how to play this game of life well, who know how to live, and love, and laugh, and create, and how to try new things curiously and enjoy themselves – without exploiting others, or taking advantage of them, who are winning in life, not on the expense of others but by adding to the well-being of all – we can learn how to do the same, if that’s what we wish to do.

And to make this switch from seeing life as something we have to endure or fight or struggle our way through, to understanding, that we actually, before entering this body, joyously chose all the struggle, as it is nothing compared to what we can gain and learn and enjoy – all we need to do is to choose to see that we have the absolute freedom to see things this way and benefit from this shift in perspective.

So, whether we feel empowered or not has everything to do with our mindset, knowing and understanding of how the world works, and it has nothing to do with our circumstances.

Every person who’s open and willing to do so can turn their life around and start thriving today, no costs involved.

The books and knowledge to teach us how are in the public libraries, on YouTube, wherever we look, as the knowledge and understanding has been around for centuries, but we have free choice and free will, so we consciously have to choose to change our path from that of the majority of people (currently).

And of course, you can also learn this with me, in the CREATRIX School.

We really just have to understand that anything in life is indeed possible for us and that there are no limitations other than the ones we set for ourselves (through what we’ve learned from the people and through our experience which we viewed through the lens of what we’ve learned from the people around us).

So, the first thing we can do to start a life that is based on expansion, learning and growth, to experience life, creation and love fully, is to realize that we are here for a reason and that that reason is to add to the expansion of the universe in our particular way, by experiencing our life, sharing our gifts and by creating new things to add to the whole.

And then, to understand that we chose to experience the difficulties in our life so we could grow beyond them and learn and experience what our soul longed to understand in physical form.

So every hardship, every challenge, every heartbreak, every joy is here for us to help us continue to grow and to decide how we would like to continue.

Every situation we encounter has the opportunity for us to learn, or to pass on that learning experience.

If we choose to let fear stop us, we will not be able to grow and learn, but stay stuck where we are, until we finally overcome the fear, or simply let it pass through us. Because some things we simply have to experience ourselves to fully understand them.

The easiest and most effortless way to live is by following the spiritual laws, as they are what governs everything in life, and, as they are based on love and not fear, and have the highest good for all in mind, they only bring more joy, love and expansion – and nothing bad.

In the CREATRIX School we have a whole chapter (GROWTH) solely focusing on the spiritual laws.

3. what’s good and bad?

Now, some of life’s lessons might be easier to understand as lessons than others.

If we apply for a job and don’t get it, to then find an even better one that is more suited to our well-being and personal development needs, the lesson is easy to understand: sometimes the thing we want is not the thing we need.

When we lose someone we love, it’s a lesson we often don’t want to understand – until we realize that there is no death and that when we die, we only change form, that our loved ones continue to be around even if not in physical form and that we will reunite with them once we, ourselves, die, often to choose to come back to life together in new constellations.

And this is where we start to begin to get the feeling of life as a game.

Because, really just like in a video game, with indefinite lives, we have as many lives to try ourselves in on earth as we wish to have or feel we need – if one doesn’t work any more, or when we’ve learned all, there is to learn, we move on to the next.

Until we don’t feel like there’s more for us to learn on earth, in physical form at all, and we move on to other realms, and/or help support the people who are on earth from there.

So one of the main things we can choose to learn in this lifetime, is that there is no good or bad, only opportunities for us to learn and grow, and that if we choose to judge a situation, that’s on us.

When we lose someone we love, it is also an opportunity for us to value life, the time we have and the times we’ve had – the person who left us in physical form is happy as can be because they see EVERYTHING now, until they choose to come back to life again.

When we don’t get what we want, it’s only because it’s not the right thing for us and something better will show up (if we believe for this to be so).

And just as there’s no good or bad, but only what we make of each situation, there’s no heaven or hell either.

The only hell we can experience is on earth, when we choose to be hard on ourselves or others, judge and don’t allow ourselves or others to experience and develop our/their full potential and live life freely and joyfully.

Our essence is love only, and we can always come back to that.

4. Why nothing is personal

We create our reality, and whatever we see on the outside is a reflection of our inner world. That includes everything other people say and do to us.

(As children we obviously have no control over that, but we did choose the circumstances we are born into, including the hardships, so no matter how devastating, horrible and brutal things might have been – if we can’t get over the things that happened, they will hold us hostage until we forgive all involved, which is the only thing that can set us free.)

So whatever we want to experience on the outside, we first have to create on the inside. And this is the only and the hardest job we have in life.

Whatever we do, we have no business thinking or worrying about how someone else is doing things, and what all is wrong or bad in the world, the only thing we have to do is decide what we want and create that within ourselves so that it can become the reality we see reflected around us.

If we really begin to start to love and nourish ourselves from the inside out, we will only share that goodness with the rest of the world as well.

Now, when someone says or does something mean to you, it can be hard not to take it personally. And I struggled with this for a really long time.

As someone who does not have a very strong ego or sense of self, when someone hurt me, I was crushed, and I took it to mean that I didn’t deserve to be loved or have good things and that I just wasn’t worth anything.

But this is never true. We get to decide how other people treat us, and it’s what I now teach people in the CREATRIX School, especially in the RELATIONSHIPS chapter.

For me, that meant that I first had to let my ego set boundaries, as in actually verbally defending them and me, by saying no to people and telling them to stop or that they couldn’t treat me that way any more.

This was far from graceful or beautiful, but I needed to know that I could defend myself first, instead of falling into old survival patterns and just giving in, to have this knowledge and experience in my physical body, so that now I don’t have to care any more when some tries to put pressure on me or manipulate me to do things their way, or only struggle with it very rarely.

We are human beings, and often we can’t go straight from hurt and traumatized, to holy and spiritual, but have to take the middle step of actually asserting ourselves and our existence in the physical, to then be able to grow beyond it – after all this is precisely what we came here for and to experience and learn.

I’m saying this because I would like to invite you to be careful with what you expect of yourself and to actually allow yourself to do the things you need to do to grow so you can fully understand and embody them and not end up bypassing them.

Don’t expect too much from yourself here at once. If you’d really like to practice this, join us in the CREATRIX School.

So now, when somebody runs me over or tries to silence me, I can see that I’m not in my full power, and need to amp up. I, mentally thank them for letting me know, so I can change, and don’t get upset with them for not hearing me.

You can simply watch whenever you feel that what someone says or does upsets you because it will always direct you to an unhealed part of yourself and thus open up the possibility for you to grow and learn.

One of the hardest things though, I find, is when people really do not understand us because they have a different level of awareness.

When I say something about myself, and they take it as criticism of themselves (because I make different choices, from what they choose, or even more likely, think that they don’t have a choice to do things differently from how they do them, so my doing things differently triggers them to see a choice, and they don’t want to have to question themselves, so they blame me, which is an ego driven, fear-based reaction).

The same goes, when people project the way they see things, onto our words (which is always, as that’s what we do, so either there’s a match in understanding and awareness, then we have a nice, joyful conversation, or there is a mismatch then it’s almost impossible for the person with less awareness to understand the one with more, or two people with little awareness to understand each other – hence we get into arguments and fights).

But there’s really not much we can do in these moments but to step away and let it pass. Everybody is on their own path, that’s another hard lesson we have to learn.

When people are not ready to change and open their perspective to love, there’s not much we can do, but to wish them the very best and send them our love, truthfully.

I’ve decided for myself to never in my life not speak my truth again, when I’m asked or to just nod to keep the peace, even though I disagree, and if that creates conflict, then so be it – but I know that my happiness is in living an honest life – and that that can be seen a threat by others – as in the end, every person holds up a mirror, so my integrity can be painful, and people tend to avoid pain.

But if we want to orient ourselves towards growth and expansion, then like a buffalo who turns towards the storm and walks into it, to get through it faster, we can allow for the pain to pass through us, to face it, allow it, know it’s there for a reason (to tell us something’s wrong in our lives that we need to change) and resolve it.

This way it won’t come back. Every time we avoid it, silence it, however, we just postpone the lesson we have to learn, and it will come back to remind us that something is unresolved as long as we keep pushing it away, until we finally allow ourselves to resolve it fully – or die, run into an accident, or let it get so bad, that we have no choice but to deal with it.

If others disagree with us, we can avoid and leave, feeling upset, or we can find a way to resolve it – if both sides are happy and able to listen with an open heart.

If others agree with us, we feel safe, especially if we’re afraid to change or to question our ways, but, and this is the important but, only when we have the capacity to hold and listen to other truths as well, can we learn new things, open up to new possibilities and make the wisest decisions for ourselves.

I once had a friend who loved to take on opposing views, just so we could talk for hours and hours, sharpen our senses and our skills and see where the conversation would take us. Nothing personal, just the joy of a good verbal and mental challenge.

I feel in each of these nights I must have grown an inch, that’s how exhilarating these discussions were.

We were practising our skills of playing the game of life, well, with love and joyfully.

To challenge the status quo, however, is not easy because not all people are ready to hear about new options in their lives, I will, however, not give up the hope, that my intentions will eventually be understood and that people will see that nothing bad can ever happen to us, if we see everything that happens as an opportunity to learn, and it’s simply our choice to call things good or bad.

5. Learning, Experiencing & Teaching

The colour orange helps us to awaken our interest in growing, learning and experiencing new things, and once we’ve learned our lessons, to share them with others.

And the sooner we realize that we have an opportunity to learn something in everything we encounter, don’t take it personally, but as a way for us to grow, the easier life becomes and the more we get to enjoy our life – and play the game of life well.

The more we recognize that nothing happens to us, but everything for us, the stronger and more powerful we become.

We now know that we’re here on earth to experience and learn new things and to help others do the same, if we feel called to do so.

Formal learning is often not about personal development, but simply about meeting standardize goals, or ego-based desires and wishes of some – this has nothing to do with experiencing and learning, but with enduring and allowing.

The only form of learning that is beneficial to the soul is when it helps us as humans to discover our true nature and calling, to learn how to live from love and to use our natural desire to thrive and learn and experience to guide us through life and the lessons we wish to/have to learn.

Imagine sharing this knowledge with the younger generations.

Imagine growing up, knowing that nothing bad can ever happen to you, and that whatever does happen just helps you to grow.

But to teach this to our children, we have to come back to fully trusting and understanding that everything that happens does actually happen for the best and that nothing is, in fact, bad, but just there to help us grow.

Some things we first have to experience in the flesh to fully understand, so see, what you need to help you to trust more, surrender more, relax more, or come and practice with us in the CREATRIX School.

Other things we can learn from books, from stories, from others, and some things we might not be able to fully understand in this lifetime – and all of that is OK and wonderful.

I believe that the most important question always is: What do you want?

Because that determines everything else.

So, what are you looking for right now? What do you wish for right now?

Let that determine your next move, and then learn what you have to learn to get there, and take everything that happens on the way as a gift of more insight and deeper understanding as well.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, read it, learn from it and then pass it on, so that others might know more as well.

I just thought about something sweet:

When we grow older, and really find a way to pass our knowledge on to those younger generations in our families and communities and at the same time bring our knowledge with us, as we leave this earthly plane and change form, and then bring it back in a next life, taking on form again with some of the same people, we taught in a previous life, so they can help us remember what we already know, isn’t that a wonderful and magical circle?

That way, when we invest in knowledge and experience and share it, we get to benefit from it in two ways and also help ourselves and our souls to really experience things from all sides.

6. Using the Colour Orange in your life

We’ve now looked at how the qualities of the colour orange play out in our lives, but we can also use the colour orange in our homes or environment to stimulate our own, or the desire of our kids, to expand and learn.

For this, we can just see how we can bring more orange into our lives.

Do you have some orange clothes? An orange scarf, orange socks, something you like wearing? An orange bracelet, necklace or earrings can work as well. Or a bag. Or you can put on some orange lipstick, or orange nail polish.

Bring some orange flowers or plants with orange blossoms into your home.

Or hang up one or more artworks, photos, posters that have plenty of oranges in them – there’s a poster I designed exactly for this purpose in my shop.

You might even want to paint a wall in your home orange, or get orange curtains or cushions for your couch.

Try out a few things that may work for you and see what feels best.

You’re here to learn and there’s such an amazing, miraculous and wonderful world to discover. Never silence your curiosity or let fear stop you.

Fear sharpens our senses so we can enter new territory cautiously – it was never meant to stop us, but as a way to help us proceed wisely and with all our senses activated.

What have you learned today, and in your life, that you can share with someone else soon?

What others say about the Wheel of Colours

“The Wheel of Colours not only reminded me what my strengths and weaknesses are, but also enlightened me about how I can solve my weaknesses and use them as a means of creating a better life.

It also showed me how precise our unconscious choices are and that we should trust our basic instinctive voices more.

Thank you, Verena, for reminding me of my flaws and apprising how to solve them!”

Ebru

“Having Verena explain my Wheel of Colours to me was a very encouraging experience where I got to look at and appreciate a lot of aspects of my personality.

We talked about my gifts, but also the challenges I face according to my personal distribution of colours.

I particularly enjoyed the practical tips for the different areas of life that pointed me to things I want to work on and pay attention to.”

Corinna

“I wasn’t aware of the concept of the Wheel of Colours and stumbled upon it accidentally.

At first, I was rather sceptical because I didn’t know how the whole process was supposed to work. But the result was amazingly accurate and gave me a lot more insight.

I knew myself quite well before that, but through this experience I was able to deepen my self-reflection even further and today I am putting some things into practice in a practical way.

This new perspective has brought me more clarity.”

Maeva

“It was really good to find out that things I already had a vague idea about are actually true for me, and that I now know what I have to do to take advantage of these opportunities.”

Linda

“I find it amazing how coherent the wheel of colours is and how much truth you can find in it, even if what you learn might be difficult.

It’s very useful and makes a lot of sense to learn more about yourself this way, if you want to understand yourself better. Very insightful!”

Danina

“Right after I received the wheel, there was a situation where someone asked me what I was thinking and I could just point to the relevant part of the wheel and be understood.

I could never have said that so well and precisely in my own words.”

Annemarie

“The Wheel of Colours has helped me see my purpose in life, something I already had an idea about, but had a hard time acknowledging before seeing it so clearly.”
