2008 habe ich mit einer Gruppe Kommiliton_innen ein paar Wochen in Shuto Orizari verbracht. Ich habe während der Zeit dort Interviews mit Roma gemacht, die sich selbst als Männer bezeichnen, die Sex mit andern Männern haben. Die von uns bekannten Kategorie des ’schwul seins‘ griff dort nicht. Viele waren verheiratet, das Männer Sex außerhalb der Ehe hatten schien eher die Norm als die Ausnahme. Ob sie außerehelichen Sex mit anderen Männern oder Frauen hatte, schien dann auch nicht mehr so einen großen Unterschied zu machen. Viel gelernt und eine aufregende Zeit.

Fast noch spannender vielleicht, dass ich auf dem Weg dahin rausgefunden habe, dass auch ich Familie dort habe, die ich dann auch noch kennenlernen konnte.

 

Über Shutka Shukar

Shutka (Shuto Orizari) ist ein Vorort der mazedonischen Hauptstadt Skopje, die 1963 von einem furchtbaren Erdbeben heimgesucht wurde. Hier wohnen mehr Roma und andere Zigeuner zusammen als in irgendeiner anderen Stadt Europas. Sie pflegen eine Fest-, Streit- und Kontrastkultur, die sich schwer auf ein gängiges Muster vereinfachen lässt und die übliche Antidiskriminierungsperspektive ebenso überfordert wie die Suche nach Zigeunerromantik.

Im Sommer 2007 konnte eine Gruppe Studierender vom Forum Tsiganologische Forschung der Universität Leipzig dort zu Gast sein. Sie haben ihre Eindrücke zu diesem Lesebuch zusammengefasst. Es schildert interkulturelle Missverständnisse, ernst gemeinte Anpassungsversuche, die Unmöglichkeit des Alleinseins und eine Menge Widersprüche zwischen Abgrenzung und Integration, zwischen Armut und Prestige, zwischen Idealeuropa und seinem Gegenteil, zwischen Willkommen und Abschied.
