← CHAPTER OVERVIEW
The topic of this chapter is RELAX/ Family, right?
And maybe the relaxation fell a little bit short – as it will only come once we’ve brought light to all the shadows and first partially, but eventually fully, will have managed to free ourselves from the baggage we’ve been carrying around with us for so long.
So, with all the hard work that is behind us, we can now begin to relax.
As I said in the lesson 1, week 4 – I got the idea for this practice from a lovely herbalist, Kami McBride. Now, I don’t remember if she spoke about this in a class I took, or in a post or in an interview I listened to, but I’m quite sure that it was her who said that they often or regularly massage each other’s feet in their home and at family gatherings as well.
So I would like to invite us all to do the same.
And I’ve even collected some information as to how we can do this best, so below you find some videos with instructions and also the ingredients you can use to make your own oils for your foot massages – and a bit later I will also add some recommendations of oils, that you can buy from female, non-binary and ally-run sustainable businesses.
How Exciting! Ready to relax and learn something new?

And we’ll start with two videos that can show us how to give a good foot massage.
If you click on the images, you should be directed to the videos on Instagram.
Because our feet give us a map of our whole body and can help us work with areas that need special attention.
This is called reflexology, and it is something that might have already been practised in Ancient Egypt. Quite fascinating isn’t it?
Because massaging the feet with foot massage oils can increase the blood circulation in the whole body and in the special areas we touch on, and choosing the right carrier oils and essential oils for our foot massages also helps with hydrating the skin in the feet and making them nice and soft.
According to my research, coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil, argan oil, grapeseed oil and castor oil are all good for foot massages.
Suggested essential oils are:
Lavender, Rose Geranium, Peppermint, Chamomile, Lemongrass, Tea tree, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Thyme, Cypress, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Marjoram, Clary Sage – which are quite a few, and they give us a good basis to start from.
You can read more about the oils here, or do your own research, if you’d like to dive in deeper. Using Sesame Oil as a carrier oil, also helps with warming the body, so that might be a good one to try if you have cold feet in winter.
I’m going to try this as well and might add some more information, once I have more experience with this.
