In 2006 a friend and I travelled around Ukraine for a month. We started and ended our trip in Szernye, a village close to the Hungarian border where I lived for a year 2000/2001.

In 2005 I had participated in a DAAD summer school in Lviv, together with a few people who would be working as Bosch lecturers all over Ukraine. We went to visit them in the cities they were placed and to some others that we wanted to see.

Trains travelled slowly, but there was always good tea and every one on the train had a bed.

These are some impressions from Crimea, where we spent a couple of days, after our visits in Kyiv and Sumy. From here we went to Ternopil.
